The Reverend Sri Swami Satchidananda

founder of the world wide Integral Yoga® Institutes.

Sri Swami Satchidananda (Sri Gurudev) was one of the most reverend living yoga masters of our time. An esteemed yoga master and much loved teacher, well known in today's world for his combination of practical wisdom and spiritual insight. He gave his life to the service of humanity, demonstrating by his own example the means of finding abiding peace within one's life and within one's self. His message of peace amongst all people and harmony of all faiths and countries has been heard worldwide. Sri Gurudev did not belong to any faith, group or country. Dedicated to the principle "Truth is one, Paths are many", he went wherever he was asked to serve, bringing together people of all backgrounds and beliefs to learn respect for all the different paths and to realise their common spirit and the universality of their goal. He also served on the advisory boards of the international yoga teachers association, European union of national federations, the British wheel of yoga, and numerous peace and inter faith organisations.
Sri Swami-ji has received many honours for his public service. Among these awards are, the Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award, The anti defamation League's Humanitarian Award and two Honorary Doctorates. The Juliet Hollister Interfaith Award was presented to Swami Satchidananda at the United Nations in October 1996. In 1998 he was honorary chair for the gala during which H.H. The Dalai Lama received the same award. Sri Gurudev has dedicated his life to the cause of peace both individual and universal and religious harmony among all people.
